K&N Pre-Charger/ Outerwear?
K&N filters are widely used. If a filter was the cause of a guys quad blowing up it was probably due to lack of maintenance or improper care during cleaning, ie high pressure washing that can blow a hole through the filtering media, or possibly not using filter oil.
Regarding the rejetting follow up, remember you are allowing more air through the combustion cycle which will lean out your air/fuel mixture. If all you have added is the filter, I doubt you have to rejet in that you need to improve the exhaust to dump air more easily and you havent stated that you have added airholes in the box or taken off the airbox lid. Take a look at your plug prior to running it with the new filter and then after the filter swap is made. Is it changing color to a tannish/chalky look? Evaluate it at that point.
