I love both and am planning on geting another 250 soon. But USUALLY u take more spills on a bike, but they are not to bad, but when u have a wreck on a quad the injuries are worse do to they way u will get throwed and it coming back on top of you.

I truly enjoy riding and racing both ! Each has their strong points and negatives depending on what you are doing.

In either case - "Dont ride faster than your angel can fly ".......

Safety is entirely up to YOU and not any perticular type of machine. I know guys and gals that can tricycles dangerous !

i love my raptor but when i had my dirtbike for about 7 months (before it was stolen) the raptor sat in the shed and collected dust.
but since all my bikes got stolen and i only got the blaster (just sold it) and raptor back im back to the quad thing
both are extremely fun but two totally different beasts

My experiences

Dirtbike(KX500)=dislocated left shoulder, dislocated right knee, both need surgury.

Quad/Trikes(12 years of riding)=minor cuts and bruises, knock on wood!

lol...i never have troubles riding my db on the slickest of mud..key is not to fight it, clamp the knee's on the gastank, and let the arms move freely, works for me, sometimes might need the occasional foot on the ground, but once you get outta 1st gear, into 2nd, its even easier, last thing you wanna do is fight the bike, worst thing to do is tense up the arms, keep em loose and you have no problems.
I gotta agree with what tekk says, the only way to stay up on a bike is to hold on and let it go where it wants to a certain degree. I ride my dirtbike in rocky streems with half a foot to a foot of water all the time. if you tense up you go donw but if you hold on and let it buck around a bit it usually comes back to center and you keep going. I can take my dirtbike anywhere besides mudholes as well. I will admit that ATVs are more versitile then quads and easier to ride, not to ride agressively, but to ride in general im not saying that it cant be hard to ride an atv to be a good rider of either takes talent. I love riding quads and with the terrain around here and the fact most of my friends all ride ATVs I usually ride one of mine as well. All i have to say is I wouldnt get rid of my dirtbike ever. The adrenaline rush of ripping a bike through the woods or riding wheelies in the fields/down the road is somthing ill never want to be without. all i can say is if you get a dirtbike get a 2 stroke. if you want a 4 stroke just get a quad cause its that light weight snap as you leave the corners that makes a dirtbike fun and no 4 stroke bike will ever make the hair on the nape of my neck stand up like the sound of a piped two stroke hauling down the trail as it pulls through powerband
