I just had somebody offer to buy my banshee. What do you think I should ask for it?

broke... I think you said that someone offered you 1500 for it? Tell the guy you won't take $1 less than 1800 and then run away from that thing like a scared rabbit. With as beat as that one is you'll spend 8000+ the next ten years of your life working on it.

Basically I got the big shaft on it. It diddnt even last a mile.. I bought it, the guy I bought it from said that he just put new wiseco pistons and rings in it before I got it... or so he said.. After close examination of the piston's and rings I have come to the conclusion that both pistons were messed up with one having 3 big deep gouges in the side BUT the rings are MINT brand new not a scratch on them.. I am pretty sure that he took it apart saw that it was messed up and just put new rings in it and got rid of it as quick as possible leaving me to get the shaft.. $2,500 cash down the tube...

Your banshee is not that bad. For 2500 bucks it was a good deal considering that a brand new motor is another 2500 bucks.
I would rebuild it. Do you have more time than money, or more money than time? If you are like me, you have time. I say go ahead and dive into it, but I wouldn't do any radical engine work to it. Just rebuild it stock and maybe have it ported if you want. Banshee's are plenty quick in almost any form, some are just quicker. While you have the bike apart, check out everything else, now is a perfect time to replace any wheel bearings and other incidentals. Also, get a new seat cover, it will be much nicer to ride. Good luck!

Have ALOT more time than money right now.. I can see it in it but its gonna be a long haul to fix it up the way that I want it. It could definetly use a seat cover.. Ive been doing the little things like scraping greese and cleaning the parts up.. might as well do something to it, right now I do not have the money to rebuild it. Painted the foot guards the other day, big improvement on those.. most of it seems ok its just NEVER been washed (I think?) the pieces actually look pretty nice like they should for a 96 but you have to scrape all the s#it off to see it. I love this machine, I diddnt even ride it a mile but man was it awesome, Ive got the fever...

It sounds like you have the right idea to me. You will really appreciate the machine much more after you get it finished. I really don't think that it will be too expensive in the long run, but if you had the extra cash laying collecting dust you would not be worried about it anyhow, right? You can have your cylinders resleeved by LA Sleeve, get a rebuilt crank, and a couple of others and you are back in the dirt! Good luck.
