forget that special tool that yamaha is talking about for adjusting the shocks , they don't have it because no one buys it.
get your self a good size channel lock pliers and give it a twist, grab the metal adjusting collar under the shoulder or the slotted part wher you would put the adjusting wrench.
as far as the grease adapter ..... slide your "right angle" adaper on as far as it will go it hould snap in place. next apply some pressure on the top to help directing the grease in to the zerk rather than around the zerk.
yes there is defective zerk or it is mostly just the ball gets stuck to the body of the zerk, water junk rust and what not, you should be able to dislodge it.

the channel locks work. i just wrapped the ends with masking tape to prevent messing up the metal shock collar. it also helps to jack the quad up to take to weight off the shock. i did not have to take the tire off.
i still have my plastic skid plate and it is holding its own, no problems yet.

Regarding the brake squeal problem...mine has been back to the dealership 4 times. This squeal will not just go away.
The first time in they said it was some rocks in the groove of the pad. The next time in...they said the pad was glazed over.
The next was it was dirty. I called Yamaha and they told me to take it back to the dealership. Just got it back yesterday...they replaced the pads with some after market pads that are supposedly softer. I will report back in the next few days after I take it out again.

Hey RLAC, what number did you call to talk to someone at Yamaha. I thought I saw a few days ago where someone called about the brake noise. I've had it with the squeaking. It's now louder than my engine. It is taking all the fun out of riding it. It just want go away.
I'd take it back where I bought it but I drove 200 miles and saved $800. Will I be able to take it to the nearest dealer or do I have to take it where I bought it?

of course you can take it to any dealer,
YAMAHA is warrantying your ATV not the dealer,
if the dealer has a sign "yamaha " displayed and sells yamaha ATV or bikes he has to service, warranty your yamaha ATV.
it is a part of the contract between the dealer and yamaha.
like cars .... you can take your chevy or ford to any dealer for warranty work.
on the other hand if you did not buy it there , they can give you hard time, ( but most likely will not , because they want your repeated business in the future once your warranty expires. )
what I mean by hard time , they can say we are all booked up for 2 weeks.
but if it is a smart dealer then they will take what ever they can.
it is all money.$$$$$ ,
they are not in business to scare customers away.
my brake squeek is starting to go away, or I may not hear it any more, or my brain is simply blocking out because I am having so much fun .... no regrets here. I love the kodiak 450 , and I am not babying it eighter!!!!!!

Kodiak....you can call (800) 962-7926
I have to wait till the weekend to get mine out for a test run with the new pads.
The squeal was very annoying. I did not baby mine either. The Grizzly does not have a rear disc. Why they put one on the Kodiak is hard to understand.
