Its possible they are just really tight and need to be ridden to break them in, but we'll see.

Well I took mine to my Yamaha dealer and he fixed my squeak. He said it was dirt in and around my brakes. He said I should spray more water on my rear brake area when cleaning and that should help. So right now I am happy Also I had new high output headlight bulbs installed. Yeah they are brighter but I don't think they are adjusted right. Are the headlights easy to adjust and is there any reason not to do it yourself? I think I need to adjust them out and apart more?

Thier is a screw at the bottom of your lights. I beleve you turn it counter clock wise to get them to move up its kinda hard to get to with a screw driver tho. I used short phillips head bit with a small wrench that worked fine. Don't know how to adj. them out. My dealer said they did'nt sell any high out put bulbs just wondering what brand they sold you.

Thanks sedwick. I got them from my Yamaha Dealer. They are H6M 35W Xtreme White Upgrade Bulb . Click the link. They are listed on Yamaha's website.

Just wanted to post an update. MAN these things are fun in the snow. I was quite impressed with the stock tires/quad's performance in the deep stuff. I was blasting through drifts along the sidewalk as people were slipping and sliding trying to drive their cars down the road, also craning their neck to find out what the F that was hauling butt 35mph past them in the snow =] Hehe I love it!

Bit of an update of my own...
Finally got to take my new Kodiak 450 out for some REALLY steep climbing at one of our local ORV parks. Stock tires, barely broke in, and the nimble little Kodiak 450 really opened my eyes. In low range, Dif-Loc engaged, it climbed some rediculously steep rock faces, and muddy slopes I didn't think she had a prayer on. Lots of slick, steep and off-camber stuff that I thought thought would be a problem, just kept going behind us. Amazing little machine.
I had one brief stretch of deep mud that started my brakes squeaking a bit, but it went away with a couple good applications of the brakes.
Other than the eventual tire upgrade, and upgrading the headlights, I'm very happy with my agile little Kodiak.
If she climbs like that with stock rubber, I can't even imagine what she'll do with Bearclaws or Mudlights...
I'm taking the camera next time.
What a great day.

Default Problem with 05 IRS Kodiak 450's

Well I live in NorthWestern Pennsylvania and last night we got some lake effect snow. Good 8 inches at least. I decided to try out the plow. Wow am I impressed. This little nimble Kodiak had no trouble plowing and easily got the job done. I didn't even have to utilize the 4X4. Thats how good these stock tires are. I went zooming around the yard a bit and this kodiak cut throw like there was nothing on the ground. I am becoming more and more impressed with this machine. Only thing I don't really like is how the plow setup is with the winch. They utililize a pully on the plow which is fine but the end of the winch connects to a little bracket that connects to the front grab bar. Ok but this bracket looks stupid and also you can't use the hook on the end of your winch cable. You must use the loop right before the hook. I think they could of come up with a better design. Anyone else notice this or any ideas on how to make it look better or able to utilize the actual hook on the end winch cable?

the reason you are supposed to use the loop in the wire, is so that it is a very tight fit, also that screw that holds the wire to the front bracket is made to snap if to much force is put on it... all i did, was swing the hook out of the way and was able to leave the hook on... We got alot of snow here too, and i was out plowing like nothing was there.... and then it got warm then really cold... -25 Celcuis.... now we have a lot of ice... and this thing just cuts threw it... it is very nice... this weekend, we are going to play in the snow... in the flood way.... should be a TON of fun!!!
