Default Raptor Rod Failure with Synthetic Oil

Has anyone ever had a Rapor rod failure that runs synthetic oil?

I dont think that has anything to do with a stock Rod with a built 686 or higher, it will FAIL, believe me.

Default Raptor Rod Failure with Synthetic Oil

I am wondering why does it fail? The rod breaks at the wrist pin I hear. It seems that the rod and wristpin wear to the point that it gets hot, welds itself then breaks.

It sounds like a lubrication problem to me.

So, I am wondering, has anyone had a rod failure that runs synthetic oil?

I am also wondering why adding a high comp piston or larger bore causes it to fail. Is the difference in the two pistons that much different from stock? Or is it the higher load on the rod from the increased performance?

If you look at my page you will see what happened to mine and after checking out a few others, I have found that they break where the oil holes are on the ROD itself. There were no heat signs at all and the wrist pin was still intacked. Look at an aftermarket Rod compared to the OEM one. You will see that the aftermarket one does not have the holes in the same place. More compression on a stock Rod will break it eventually.

So, you are saying that the placement of the oil holes causes a stress concentration that fatigues the rod and eventually causes cracking and catastropic failure?

And that the aftermarket rod is meatier in this area so it doesn't fail?

And also that the notorius wear on the right side of the wrist pin rod have nothing to do with it's eventual failure?

....Just trying to clarify.

Just the ones I have seen, I havent seen any other one that would say any different.

Yes, take a look at a Carrillo Rod.

And also that the notorius wear on the right side of the wrist pin rod have nothing to do with it's eventual failure?
I have never seen that one at all. Where did you find this information??

I read on these forums that just about all Raptors show wear on the wrist pin and rod on the right side after some use. I was thinking this is what causes them to fail.
