87-89 warrior while idleing header glowsdull red ticking in head i took off header pipe replaced it but didnot put in gasket when i give it throttle it dies but starts back up and idles is it timming or valves or is it carb please help

 

Sounds like your jetting is way lean and your valves need adjustment.

By not putting the header gasket back on you may also be leaning out there too due to exhausting faster.

 

You are either extremely lean or your exhaust may be plugged up.The only other thing I can think of is the engine is over heating.Does it have enough oil?Your not letting it sit still while running for very long periods?It is air cooled so its meant to be moving.It could also be the timing if its out of adjustment.I'd get it checked out before you burn up the exhaust valve or piston.
