Default Clutch Install on Warrior

I have got everything going back together and don't know how much to tighten down the star shaped (pressure) plate on the springs. It seems I have to tighten it down a lot to get the case to fit back over everything, but then the clutch engagement doesn't do anything becase the springs are already compressed as far as they go.

Can someone help me out here?

I have that exact same problem on a 1987 warrior, the book says to go 6ft pounds wich isnt much but makes the springs almost bottom out, so it would seem that the clutch fork wouldn't even catch. but after i played with the adjustments it seems to be doing better but the clucth still won't completly disengage for me. sorry i can't help any more but the book does say 6ft pds. let me know how it works out.

P.S. THEY ALL HALFTO TO BE TIGHTEND THE SAME AMOUNT SO A TORQUE RENCH IS PROBABLY THE BEST WAY TO GO.

Thanks, I will try the 6ft-flbs torque setting. It does seem awful tight after all is said and done.
