Pull the top end and look at the ports, compare them to a stock Banshee cylinder. Did the quad have any other mods when you bought it?

Hmmm... well, the I've never been into a Banshee motor, but every other 2 stroke I've pulled apart had casting flaws on the ports. If your ports are smooth, clean, and polished than they've probably got a port job on em.

As long as you were using low RPM's and a high grit bit, should be ok.

Just knocking the carbon off I am sure you didn't open them up too much. For trail riding, I cut open the exhaust port by 2mm upward. Surely you didn't grind that much.

Measure from the very top of the exhaust port to the top of the cylinder deck. If its 30mm, its not ported.

15HP if you also widen the exhaust and open the other ports up. You don't want to do this unless you have an idea about porting. If you raise it 2mm without widen and shaping the port, it will make a narrow peaky powerband.

15hp will only be achieved when combined with the right mods. With larger ports comes the need for larger carburation and exhaust flow. I have yet to see a port job that provides a increase of 15hp, without other mods.
