What piston for 686?
#22
We started to use CP pistons in most of our builds for other reasons than the JEpistons breaking. We have alot of motors that have been out there for two years without problems ,that have JE pistons in them.Maybe we have just been lucky.

Craycraft Racing (tx), Kenz Cycle Tech (az), and Sparks Racing (ca) but looking at a 6mo - 1.5 year wait
there are others but I have seen these bikes and experienced a lot of them...
some others... mad racing, kms performance...

.they TRIED to fix it 2 times with new designs and failed! They didn't even make a 3rd design and just left it at that, did you not hear about that? My brand new JE just went bad this last summer and JE is still having the same problems with their pistons. Its not an "in the past" probem yet man. If it's an "in the past" problem then why do you still hear about it so often? Dont buy JE![/quote]
who did you buy the piston from? could it have been sitting on the shelf for a while? i'm not here to argue with you but it sure seems alot of us builders still use the JE even though you think they suck so bad. BTW cool looking Shelby

The JEs also have a problem with them cracking along the intake valve reliefes. I've only seen it on the 11:1 and may not be a problem with the 12:1. If a builder uses mostly 12:1's they probably wouldn't see to many problems.IMHO
I would go with a Ross and it's a good idea to replace the rod too.
