a raptor 660's power?
hi, i had a question about a raptor 660. Nearby where i live a man is selling a 2001 raptor 660 with a white brothers pipe, full skids, new bearings, renthal handlerbars for 3500. I pretty sure this is a good deal considering it is in fair condition. My main concern is if i can handle the power. Does the raptor have a violent powerband, do u have to rev it high when starting out in first gear. I may test ride this tomarro so i would like to know if i can handle this. I have ridden a z400 with a 450 kit, a fmf pipe and a jet kit. Is the power conparible to this? please give me any feedback on this. I am 5'6 140 pounds and have ridden many different types of quads ranging from a vinson 500 to a z400 to a kawasaki bayou. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thank you very much in advance.

it is one of the eaisiest sport quads to ride. their is so much low end tourqe, that their is instant power right off idle, so no need to rev it at launch is neccesary. Full throttle in 1st or 2ed does lift the front end up with ease, so that might take some getting used to. Other then that, good quad and easy to use/accsess power. good luck.

Just remember it's a 2001, the starting year of the raptor, which came pretty bad from factory, ask him about the tranny, though their is many people running the stock transmision right now, just take that in mind. If you ridden a Z450 that was set up right, you could handle the raptor, it's a torque monster, really easy to wheelie, sometimes a bit hard to make it not to wheelie in the drag stripes. Though really powerful, and you will learn how to control it since you have some sort of experience.
