Default Kodiak 450 problem

On the way through the swamp today I selected the differential lock and the engine started to cut and miss/ hesitate - oh it just ran bad. Now before I got to the swamp, I got stuck on top of a log for a few minutes and somehow knocked the electrical fitting off of the front differential system. reconected and all was good. 2wd & 4wd ran fine. Not sure if this even has anything to do w/ the problem. Does anyone know why the quad runs so poorly w/the diff. lock engaged?? Any starting points would be appreciated. Sounds electrical - I do have a manual that I have been looking through.

Thanks in advance.

Are you hitting the rev limiter?
The top rpm is limited in diff lock and reverse, to prevent full power. In 2004 they came out with an override button, to bypass that feature.

Thanks Hondablaster, I forgot about that feature. Yes I believe I was reaching some heavy rpms to get speed for the mud, and it is especially quick to act up in reverse. Is there an aftermarket solution? Not real happy knowing I have limited rpm in the mud w/diff. lock. Anyway, thanks , I thought I had a dreaded electrical problem.

You could check past posts for ideas, I think some people have bought a kit from ebay, for bypassing.
I havent seen anyone post on what the specifics are .
