7 paddle haulers didnt work so well on my 690 today
i built it . it has a ross piston big valves anb mild porting. stage 2 cam and 39fcrs. while it is in hybernation.i plan on changing ehaust and tires if you guy think 7paddle uls are better than 12s also i was thinking of sending my head in and having craycraft give it a real port job and try their cam.

I as well build all my builds and don't require any check-writing to the builder's out there and run with the best of'um, It sure feels good to run on a build that only your hands touched, It's no fun to run on someone else's coat-tail, anyone can do that.

paddle selection "rules" are different when comparing a 280lb 2-stroke to a 400-500+lb big bore 4-stroke. the weight and the torque of the 4-stroke is completely different. When you're at 500+ lbs, with significant front weight bias, you need more paddle.
on the flats:
i lost hookup on the DS when switching from 22x11x10 10-paddle non-buffed extremes on .160 rims from rocky mountain ATV to 22x11x8 10-paddle non-extreme superlites, 72 rollout, on .125 rims.
i then switched to 22x11x8 12-paddle non-extreme superlites, 74 rollout, on .125 rims, and still didn't feel they hooked up good enough.
i then switched to 25x12x9 14-paddle extreme superlites, on .125 rims, and the hookup is much better.

It's good that you can build your own...alot of people out here don't know which end of the wrench loosens the bolt...I on the other hand prefer using a builder.I don't have either the time nor the inclination to build my own stuff at this time in my life because of work and kids although someday I hope to have the time to do so...
