Default goin to a 686 grizz..is it worth it

I'm thinking about buying a wiseco piston kit with a 11:1 compression. It says it will increase the cc's on your grizzly to 686. Will i be able to notice a difference with 26 more cc's?

tell me what happens cause i pretty much got the same set up as u. I would reccomend u to get some now cv joints. like some heavy duty axels and stuff cause they will end up breaking. If u r like me u will be riding wheelies and jumping stuff and those weak joints and axels are gonna break. Mine already broke 2 times. each rear axels and each time they costed me 700 bucks. its a pain in the @$$ but tell me what u get.

That is only about a 4% increase. It is hard to say what would really come of it. It seems it would offer a little more power.

11:1 Isnt that compression higher than most high end cars that require premium fuel?
(lexus, bmw, etc)

Two questions, what will this do to easy of starting and your fuel requirements? I often run premium in my atv, but I have the option of running anything, as it is set up stock - should I need to.

I do not know. Good luck with your mods.

it makes a good bite of differance . the big bore plus a hot cam stage one and a rejet and it is a hole new bike. i wouldnt do it unless you are ready for exhaust and a little clutching. im in the process of putting a 740 kit with big valve porting and a carb up grade on my rhino. it already has exhaust and a griz cdi and new shocks .

fair enough. but then however it is fair to say at least some of the increased power comes from the other stuff.. ie exhaust upgrade and not all from the extra displacement.

do these modified engines last as long as unmod?

merry christmas.

If you go wth like a Ross 10.75:1 piston, you can still use 89 octane fuel...It will even run better on that than on a 91 octane cause it has a higher flash point....The higher the compression, the lower the flash point fuel you need which is a higher octane....I know it sounds wierd but....

I have the same question.

Do any of these mods that you make have a bad impact on the motor?

I am looking at getting a 2005 Grizzly 660 and I want to put on some performance mods after I get it but I am not sure what the impact to the motor will be.

Thanks

To a new stock Grizzly all you really need to do is change the exhaust to something a little more free flowing, add TPI valves to the airbox lid and rejet the carburator. When you do this it is also wize to modify the clutch, assuming you are changing the 25" tires to something larger, and it will give the grizz a different outlook on power delivery to the ground.

I have ridden with someone that has the 686 and it is a nice set-up. With the piston, cam, valve springs, exhaust, airbox mods, rejeted, and clutched it is a good and reliable machine. Only problem it is loud! I have heard that once you go bigger your dependability starts to faulter.
