2000 Kodiak Brake Life
#12
I had to replace my rear brake pads on 2001 "BLUE" Kodiak after 300 km's, The set I put in have lasted over 1000 km's and there appears to be at least half of the pad left. The front pads are also in good shape. The only other problems I have incountered with the machine are squeaky front shock mounts (a little water proof grease solved that problem) and loose mounting bolts on the front part of the skid plate! Overall an awesome machine!

Kodiak2001, Well it seems that every guy I see that owns a BLUE kodiak, lives in Canada! Because I thought all they offered was red, hunter green, beige, and the hunter edition. I haven't seen any blue K's at the dealer I was at. My brother owns a red 2000 Kodiak, and he loves his! Even his wife drove it and was impressed. I have noticed on the forum that their is at least 2-3 proud owners of a BLUE Kodiak. Hammer4

Kerplunk, There you are!! I had the chance to check out a 01 Kodiak, Forest green in color. I threw a leg over it and it sure fit well! Very comfortable! Next I might take one for a test ride. I am planning on buying a 01 Kodiak or a 01 AC 500 auto. Thanks for replying! Enjoy your nice BLUE quad!! Hammer4

Hi jham,
We have the same quad and I have a few questions. Are you using stock rims? Does the right front tire rub the winch on extreme left turns? Do either of your aluminum skid plates cover the rear driveshaft universal joint boot? I'm putting on 25x10x12 Titan 589's on next week and am wondering if I'll have problems.
Thanks, Damguy

I took my 25-10-12 Duro Escavators off the front and went back to 25-8-12's. I wouldn't recommend over size tires on the front unless you go with a lighter than original setup. Mine was hard to steer, loss of pickup and it caused my steering column to start popping, maybe due to the weight and stress. I had the popping fixed, column needed greased and repacked and is fine now, fixed under warranty even though 8 months old. Over sized tires also rubbed my winch and A-arm. I'm still looking for a skid plate to cover rear boot but unable to find one. Can anyone tell me how many miles to expect on the front brakes?? Also, where can you get the EBC or better brake pads?
