If you want to switch from 2wd to 4wd, get it.
If you ride mud 100% of the time, you don't need it.

Yes! GET IT! I rode my Wolverine for 6 years without the 424. When I installed it, it was like a completely different quad. I loved the way it handled. It was much more sportier. It was more fun blasting down the trails in 2WD. You can powerslide it, do donuts, all the fun stuff everyone does on their 2wd quads. Its easier to steer, it acclerates a little faster and you probably get more miles on a tankful of gas. You don't know what you're missing. Get it! I can't believe Yamaha doesn't have switchable 2WD-4WD installed on the Wolverine at the factory. They'd probably sell more of them than they do now.

It will take 2-4 hours depending on mechanical ability. It is a fairly straightforward task. You will need some metric sockets and a drill if you decide to mount it on the plastic. Some others on here might have better ideas on where to mount the ****. I put it on the left side, on the hard plastic right below the handlebars. By far the best addition to a Wolverine. Like others have mentioned, it becomes a whole new bike.

I absolutely love it as well!!!
It makes all the difference in the mud and snow. It does give you the true 4wd!!
The only thing is that it does make the steering alittle heavy, (not the feeling of having it locked all the time, the Detroit locker does let some slip under miner load) ... that is why i would suggest the 424 with it, that way when you are bookin it along the roads steering is lighter.
It is pricey though, just for the heads up....
