i run race gas in my 250R but it's setup for it, many people have told me that you CAN run race gas without modding anything, but i would rather have it made to run on it. we ran 120 octane race gas in my buddies stock KX80 and it didn't hurt anything at all and it made a noticable difference in power of pump gas, also mostly all race fuels are leaded, so it will run cooler. i've also ran race gas in my LT250R with no problems and we ran race gas in the 400ex with octane booster added also, most people will say that race gas doesn't improve performance over pump gas and that it just makes it run cooler, but I WILL say from running it in all 3 of the quads we have at my house, race gas makes an improvement in performance and also makes it run cooler, but it is expensive as hell depending on what kind you get, i have gotten Klotz 120 which costs me 40 bucks for 5 gallons and i have also ran 110 Jet Fuel from the airport that costs me around 11.50 for 5 gallons. pretty soon i'm making a trip to the mountains about 15-20 miles from my house to go get some Turbo Blue and try it, my buddy said it costs him around 3.85 a gallon or something like that.

I have had my YFZ for a year and a half and I have ran race fuel in mine the hole time. I just tore it done 3 weeks ago to put in the 13 to 1 piston and my engine was extremely clean. I have no problems out of mine!

There is no need to run race fuel in a stock bike. I think the reason you feel a difference in power is because of the cooler running temp, but the cost is not worth it, IMO. I used to run 50% 93 and 50% AV(jet) fuel in my trike, and the smell alone was worth it in my opinion

You are wasting money if your quad does not need race fuel. The higher octane is to control detonation. It is harder to ignight in the cyclinder. You may think you feel a improvment but i do not believe it. Far more guys have a build up in there heads than don't when running race fuel unneeded. Use what is recomended.

No need for race fuel in a stock quad. 93 pump gas works fine.

Now when you build it, and go high compression, you need to run race fuel.

11.9:1 is high compression...

Stock it calls for 91 octane or higher gasoline. If you have a stock piston and timing, Premium pump gas will work best. Not sure if the cam mod would affect detonation or not though.

Yes it is ok.
No it is not necessary.

In my 250R, I HAVE to run higher octane fuel, but it is HIGHLY modified. I choose to run Av-Gas. It resists detonation well above pump fuel, is more consistent batch to batch, and burns cleaner.

In my YFZ, I just pull up to the pump, and fill it up with super unleaded.
