i have a clutch problem
#1
i got a problem with my clutch on my 95 banshee. at first i thought i broke the clutch cable because there was no tention on the handlebar lever so i took it off and it wasnt broken it was just worn out. i put a new one on and it worked fine when the bike wasnt on. now its like it was b4 with no tention. i took the cable back off and played with the little lever that the cable hooks up to b4 it goes into the motor. when i did that it seems like it moves fine like it should let off the clutch when i let go of the handle but when the cable is on it wont let up...like it doesnt have enough force to put the wire back threw the cable. would that be a problem with the clutch itself or do you think the little spring on the lever by the motor is worn if thats possible. im lost and i dont want to take it to the shop for them to tell me its something small and them charge me out the ***. please let me know if you can help... or if what i said makes no sence tell me and ill try to type it to make more sence. thanks - tim

ok thanks because like i said. when the cable is off and i move the lever it goes back on its own but when the cable is on i just doesnt have the strength. how hard do you think it would be for me to fix that myself? will i need to just replace the bolt or buy a new basket?

ok i found out wut the problem was. when i had the old clutch cable on it wore out and was hard to pull. well when it wore out the cable wasnt letting the clutch disingage all the way so i fried the clutch... yea i feel dumb having that not click in my head sooner but yea. thanks for the help neways. now i get to spend about 150- 180 bucks to get a new clutch n have it installed. i would do it myself but the guy that owned the quad b4 me stripped out the screw so hopefully they can do it at the shop.

i have the same proble with my blaster. i hate admitting to this but im having the dealer do my clutch . its only costing me 78 for labor, i got a ebc clutch threw bike bandit, and it will be done in a day. id try doin it on my own but i dont know much about atv clutches. car and truck clutches i have no problem wiht but atv clutches..... well idk to much about them. the dealers cool about it and there even gona let my watch while they do it, so i learn . bash me for it if u please.... i deserve it

you can find a cheap clutch kit off ebay for your shee. What screws are you talking about that the guy before you stripped? It really isn;t worth a dealer to do it cause they charge an arm and a leg. Its a very simple process to do. All it is is pulling off the cover, unscrewing the springs, removing the plates and putting the new ones back in then putting the springs back in, little more invilved than that but its rather simple. Just curious to what is stripped...

If your just talking about the heads of the screws are stripped you can get them out by a good pair or vice grips or if worse comes to worse, you get a drill and drill a hole in the head of them and they make a drill bit with a thread specifically for backing out screws. It happens to me all the time, normally I end up snapping the bolts because there quality sucks and break under and pressure. Once you drill a hole in the head of them, theres a drill bit that has a left hand thread I think, opposite of your normal drill bit, so when you back it out the bit digs into the metal and gets a grip of the screws and will turn out. If you really dont think you can handle it go to the dealer I guess, but someone you know will prob have an idea on how to do it. If you can get them out it will save you about $100 at least. Good Luck
