I clean mine by soaking it in parts dip over night, u could take it apart though if u know what ur doing.. I had problems like that on my rm, and my carb needed cleaned and my reeds were sticking.

On top of your carb is what is called the TORS system. On top of that unit there is the idle ajestment screw. You were probably turning the air screw which dosnt really set the idle. In oder to set the idle you need to adjust the screw on top of the TORS unit on top of your carb. If you take the seat off you should be able to look down ontop of this unit and see the screw. Its a big screw that you can turn with a flathead screw driver. You can see it under the seat on the left hand side, just below the airbox snorkle.
