Default V-force reeds for my Blaster

My Blaster already has a Toomey B-1 pipe, jets and it runs crazy fast. No porting yet.

I just got in some V-force reeds from Vitos, and some Uni-clamp ons.

What kind of changes in the power do you think I will get by putting on the reeds?

And what kind of jetting changes do you think I'll have to make? I'm starting to wonder about jetting, because the carb is supposed to mix the right amount of air and gas, and just because it's flowing more mixture, why should I have to rejet? Because when a stock motor revs higher the carb is still supposed to mix the air and gas right? So if it flows more because of pipes or reeds or airbox mods, what's the difference from when it flows more because the stock motor is revving higher? Do you see what I mean?

And what about the Uni clamp-ons? I'm already running with no airbox lid, but I want to remove the whole air box and run clamp-ons. Do you think the Uni's will make a difference in power? And what about jetting?

Thanks Iz.

I would have gotten g3's from 1dirracing. And even with the Vforce, they are cheaply made and have been known to crack and go into the cylinder tearing up the walls and scarring up the piston. On the other hand UNI is the best filter in my opinion, they have great perfermance and offer the protection of a foam filter. But IMO you should only have the whole airbox off in drag racing and dune riding, but that's it. I don't know about the jetting though but i'm sure shav0 can help!

Im not sure if I understand your question, but I'll give it a shot.
When your motor revs higher and higher it draws in more air the faster it revs. As it draws in more air your carb adjusts how much gas goes with it, ie the pilot jet, needle, and main jet. As the RPM's vary different jets take over and control the mix.
When you start changing reeds, exhaust, and air filters, you are really adjusting how much air the motor can draw in. With less restrictions it can pull more air. Now with the extra air your jets also need to be increased..

Does this help?

As for the clamp on's be careful about those. I would advise against it if your going to be running in wet conditions. Make sure you use a pre-filter and clean them all the time, or else you can risk sucking dirt into the engine. The clamp-on's flow better because they are in-line with the carb, and air flows better in a straight line, plus it eliminates the restrictions caused by the stock filter and airbox boot. You'll need to step up the jetting a fair amount, but I can't say for sure. What are you running right now?

I heard good things about the G'3's but almost everyone, including Dan at Patriot, (he sent me V-force reeds for my Duner ported Banshee motor) and Vito's, recommends V-force, I will take my chances with them for now, maybe try out the G'3's later. I hope the V-force don't destruct my motor. I'll probably put red loctite on all thr screws holding the petals. Thanks for the suggestion.

Not to argue or anything but boyseen rad valves don't even compare to G3's...

Default V-force reeds for my Blaster

Shav0, right now I'm running 260 or 270. The Toomey kit came with a 310 main, but that was ridiculously rich. So I got some leaner ones from the bike shop and it runs a lot better with the 270.

Also I removed my oil injector, with a trenga block off kit. So I'm premixing with Castor 927 at 32:1. I love the smell of that stuff. Does anyone know any oil that smells better? I don't mean the fruit flavored ones, I mean Castor oil smell.

I also put in a foam replacement filter for the stock airbox filter, and I run with no box cover. It makes a difference. I just got my Uni clamp on today, and I'll try it out next weekend, have a few days off work. I actually got 3 of the uni's because Dan sent me K&N's for the Banshee motor, but I have heard they aren't as good as the Uni's for several reasons.

I am planning to get the HWD PD3 kit, whenever they get their web-page fixed up. You may have seen me on the HWD forum, I've seen you there.'

My cousin lives in Albuquerque which is HWD location, so I may visit there and ride one of their bikes, they offered me a ride to check out their porting.

Iz.

With that Uni your going to need to step up the main a couple sizes, and maybe one on the pilot.
Thats awsome that they are going to give you a test first, Jose is a good guy. If you have any more questions be sure to ask.
