Looking at a Raptor 350, Need advise
I'm looking to trade in my 400ex for a bike that has reverse. I've riden the 660's and they are great bikes but I can't justify paying 6000 bucks for quad I can't get out of third gear because I ride in tight woodsy areas. I do occassionally hit a local track for fun but I'm not really interested in competetive racing. Will a used 350 raptor be a good buy? How is the acceleration and low end power compared to the 400ex? What is the top end speed and will the bike be good on the track to just fool around with? How is the suspension? I'm looking to get out the door under 3500 bucks, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dinaps

My real concern is acceleration, suspension and low end power. I ride trails and like to get up and go quickly. I do however need to get the front up quite often to get over fallen tree branches and stumps, sometimes at speed. How will the raptor do? I'm trying to justify the ammenity of reverse so if the raptor will be comparible to the 400 for my needs, then I'll probably go with it.

Thanks for the heads up guys. The 05 400ex's are nice but I can't justify paying that much for reverse when it's practically the same bike I already own, besides the plastics. I guess I should get use to hopping on and off the bike every time I screw up and get is stuck. Thanks for the help.

when you do finally get reverse down the road,,,you will have paid your dues
id stay with the 400 for now,,,,,,and stay away from the raptor 350 coming off a 400 4 valve

MY FREIND HAS A 02 400 ex my 350 will out accel him by a good bit but the 400ex is more stable for hill climbs and is more stable in fast cornering but the 350 has plenty of low end power to me ive rode his and i like em about the same power wise but as i said his feel's way more stable but ive got used to mine so i dont really think you can go wrong with the 350 i love mine but it could use being a little wider. And if i was looking at used maybe you should look at a z400 they seem to have a good bit more power than the 400ex and ive seen some good prices on some used ones.

Hey 2FAST4URASS,
When you put that exhaust on your 350 raptor, did it seem to stay in the gears a little longer? My dad and I just got two raptor 660s, and my mom a raptor 350, when I ride hers, it seems like i go through the gears way too fast. Then again, I'm not all that familiar with it, I'm trying not to rev it too much since we are still breaking them in. I was just wondering if the exhaust allowed you to rev it a little higher.
Sorry for getting off topic, as for the main question of this thread, I probably wouldn't go from a 400ex to a raptor 350. Although the 350 is a great bike, I think you would be disappointed because you would be giving up some power. I would keep an eye out for a used z400 after reading your post, the raptor 660 and Z400 were the first quads that came to mind. You may have to pay a little more for a Z, but it would be well worth it. You're right, a 660 might be getting a little spendy, but they are great for trails, no trouble at all getting the front wheel off the ground. I'm in love with mine!
