Hey,
Yeah I just did it tonight actually...took it out for a quick spin.....it'll do about 25+ in reverse I'd say if you want it to. Works great.....track that L-shaped plug up to around the rear shock's upper mount...I just spliced into that wire about there and put a ring terminal on it, then put it on a bolt that holds that bracket which holds 2 overflow hoses that go back there....but you can put it on anything which is connected to the frame or motor really......
I just did it there because I could get my hands in there....take off that upper chain roller on the shifter side.....but you can really do it anywhere on that wire.....higher the better.....
Anyway, seems to work fine......i just put a bunch of Silicone sealant all over everything I spliced or made a connection to to keep any water out to prevent corrosion.....
Basically just went by how its listed on sandwizards.com.....in tips and tricks....
And I doubt Yamaha would make a "weak reverse gear" and put it in a quad. Here's why. Even with the limiter enabled you can rev the motor to the redline when its in reverse, with the clutch pulled in. You can then drop the clutch, and the clutch grabs just before the rev limiter kicks in....that means if you wanted to (though any sensible rider wouldn't) you could drop the clutch at full power.....If yamaha's alleged "weak gear" were in there they would have designed the limiter so this wasn't possible....I'm sure the tranny is fine, its just a safety issue for people who can't control their left hand and right thumb. However, if your ground works loose, you will all of a sudden have your limiter again and you can expect to do a back flip if your wheels don't slide (most likely they won't)!!! Its a risk, but worth it.

Hi. I'm the new guy. I am getting rid of that rev limiter tonight. I ride in all kinds of nasty stuff and I bought a 2005 Raptor with reverse for a reason. There's nothing fun about standing in front of your bike, pushing it backwards, uphill, with the throttle controlled by your LEFT forefinger and your clutch controlled by your RIGHT thumb, all while the motor is banging off the rev limiter and going Blapp... Blapp... Blapp... etc. It works, but I wouldn't suggest you try it unless you are really stuck and riding by yourself, like you have always been told not to, way out in the middle of nowhere, where you should not have gone, ... like I was last weekend. I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box but I've gotten away with it for the past 32 years that I've been riding. It's hard to find good riding buddies so I do what I can. Anyway, I saw some info on raptortranny.com that looked helpful and thought I'd pass that along while I went off to that sandwizards site to see what they have to say about all this. Keep it in the mud and RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE!!! peace & chicken grease

Go to www.ripperracing.com and buy a kit to eliminate the limiter and keep your reverse lite for about 26 bucks. Installs in 20 minutes.

The 660 grizzly also has the reverse limiter. To override it I interrupted the green/white wire but ran the other end of that wire to a momentary bypass switch (I used a kill switch button from a yamaha bike) and made room between my brake and handle bar grip. Then run from the switch to ground. When you need to override the reverse hold in the button. When you don't need it then it is just like oem. The kill switch that I used was Yamaha part #23X-83976-00. It has two wires out of it and a bracket that allows you to mount it to the handlebars.

I just installed the reverse module from Ripper Racing. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. The unit works very well. The rev-limiter has been bypassed and my reverse light still works.

yup, I made the mistake of splicing into that one first......they go through the same wire holder near the top of the rear shock mount. Turns out your reverse limiter still works if you splice into that one on accident LOL. Who woulda thunk it?
