I am a big guy and I am looking for something to hold up my Grizzley so I can work under it. Can you use jack stand on an IRS machine? I would really appreciate any help that you can give me.

yeah, put it under a part of the frame. I generally just use a floor jack with a 2x4 on top of it that runs across the bottom of the frame from one side to the other. Keeps from stressing one specific point of the frame and holds it more steady from rocking side to side on the jack.

Sears sells a craftsman ATV jack for about 100 bucks. This would be probably work great for you.

Depending on what you are doing under there, you may find that it is easier to stand the machine on its tail. This of course would not work for something like changing oil where the machine has to be level but for other things, such as installing aftermarket skid plates or giving it a thorough cleaning it may be easier to work on it that way.

One way to stand it up is to prop up a couple of planks against a building (or the bucket of a tractor) that are at a rather steep angle, put the machine in 4WD, put your knees on the back of the rear seat, feet on the back rack and ride it up the planks. When your rear wheels are about to touch the bottom of the planks (you will feel like the machine is nearly vertical) grab the rear brake lever, shift your weight back as you hold on to the bars, one foot still on the back rack and the other held out behind you.. This should pull the front end off of the boards and stand the quad on its tail (resting on the rear tires and back rack).

If you didn’t have enough weight to pull it off the planks and stand it up, you need to back down, make the plank angle steeper and try again. Be sure your fuel petcock is turned off and you don’t want the tank so full of fuel that it leaks out of the vent tube...

I have a hoist in my garage that I use for hanging deer. I use it to lift the rear end and place a 5 gal. bucket under each tire. Then I lift the front and put a bucket under each front tire. I've never had a bucket colapse on me yet.

Well, the most awesome system is a Handy lift from Western plow. They make the lifts you see in the bike shops. Just uses air from a shop compressor. They start at about $700. Used to be in the thousands years ago when they 1st came out. I've had one for about 15 years now. Wouldn't do without one ever again. Maintenance free too. Frees up garage space too. Everything fits right on the lift, tools etc. while working comfortably onthe bike. I also have a stool on each side of the bike tosit on. Keeps me more comfortable doing carbs etc. and the combination of better vision, more comfort, tools being right there on the olif under the bike accesible from all around, and also making for a dripping oil catcher that is easy to clean with spray cleaner off of the steel table just makes for a better and faster and more enjoyable mechanical experience.

a $700 lift would be a bit much for just jacking around with a 4wheeler. But I'm sure it would be a hell of a luxury to have.
