Yamaha does have the better sounding names of course. Some quads have received some lesser names over the years though.

Prairie - lame when they had 400's and 300's. Sad name for the 650 beast they dropped out in 2002.

Ozark - Pretty bad too. Nothing catchy about it. I guess Eiger and Vinson sound lame to me as well, mountain or no mountain.

Terrapro - The name didn't really matter with this dud from yamaha.

Scrambler - caught on well, but it just reminded me of a carnival ride or eggs or something.

Bearcat 454 - name sounded ok. Quad needed some refining though. And now AC doesn't name their quads, probably because they don't want anything to be synonomous with the original Bearcat.

Don't forget the quadsports and don't polaris name a lot of their quads like trialblazer and predator. But you'r right yamaha does seem to name most of them.

Quadsport isnt a name, and neither is Sport Trax because they refer to many different sport machines. The name doesnt correspond to any specific charachteristics, just that its a 2wd sport machine. IMO anyway. It would be like calling the LT230, lt250R, and lt500R all the same name. That makes the current complaints about the raptor name pretty unsubstantial in comparison.

I wont touch on Polaris because its sketchy at best. Can the trailblazer, phoenix, and scrambler be considered sport machines? If the scrambler is then what about the wolverine? A scrammy 400 2wd would be much easier to pass off as a sport than a 500 4x4. The phoenix is closer to breeze categorization than blaster, but its not full of cargo racks like the old zuki quad runners. Who knows...
