Default works for wolverine

I have a 2003 wolverine that I mostly trail ride somewhat aggressively at times and also use for chores-dragging logs- pulling trailer loads of woood etc. I would like to know if aftermarket shocks, namly works are woth the $900.00 that it would take to put dual rate steelers and a ultracross on the rear. If any one has the works setup on their wolverine I would really like to hear your opinion. thanks. ps. the rear shock may be the quadstar not really s;ure right now but it is the cheaper one for about $550

I put the basic Steelers on mine, dual rate in front, and the standard no rez in back, and it was a big difference over stock, much better control in the rough trails, and won't bounce the k-rap out of you when you push it through the rutted stuff. I only managed to bottom my shocks out once, and that was when I went temporarily insane and raced my Wolverine on a motocross track !! One more thing to add, for even better control and easier fast trail riding, put in a steering stabilizer, it really tames down the handlebars when you hit the ruts and bumps at speed, makes the steering feel steadier, almost like power steering, especially if you put bigger, more aggressive tire on.

Thanks for the input 95wolv, your assessment of the works has got me closer to biting the bullet. I guess the improvement is undeniable but aftermarket shocks is one expensive $$$$$ mod. About the stabalizer; Who makes a good one and what is average price for one? Thanks again 95wolv.

Got my stabilizer off ebay cheap, new they run about $ 105 for a PEP brand, others can run you a couple of hundred bucks, but are very adjustable, where the PEP ( the brand I got) has just 3 adjustment holes on a bracket to tune it. I'm sure one made for a Warrior would work, the motor mounts and such are almost the same.
