Why is everyone so quick to jump all over the shop? There is no way a shop can guarantee against dumb riders. I am being hypothetical and not saying this is you, however a 2 stroke needs to be broken in very carefully after a top end job. If it ran strong for 10 minutes there is good chance that the work was alright but was just run too hard and long without a cool down. And what about jetting? Was it richened up slightly for break in? You need facts before jumping to conclusion that the shop is at fault. If the rider intends to skip a carefull break-in then he should tell mechanic his plans and request a little more piston clearance.

Thanks for the tear, Catchme.... and no, if you're on an ATC 250r, I doubt I can.

Well, it's true that a bike needs to be warmed up and broken in properly, but I did that.

Apparently, when the cylinder was bored this time, the sleeve had become really thin at the ports, or something, and when I ran the bike, the sleeve sort of pulled away a little from the outside part in one or two spots, and so the piston seized.

I didn't say it was the mechanic's fault... don't know if it was or not. The shop that did the boring is a good reputable shop, and neither they nor the mechanic that put the engine back together, saw that there was going to be this problem. Maybe it's something you can't see beforehand.
