Default little sahara utah easter weekend

there will be a group of about 10 coming up from wyoming for easter weekend. how early do we need to get there to get a good spot? we were thinking of staying at the oasis campground but heard it was like 5 miles from sand mountain. thats seems to far to ride being as we will mostly be racing. whats staying at the base of sand mountain like. is it to dusty and crowded? can you have campfires at either spot? any usefull info would be very helpfull.

Can you say CROWDED!!!! At the base of Sand Mountain your lookin at thousands of people! Yes you can make camp fires at both spots, yes it can be very dusty. Youll see some of the fastest machines around. If you like tons of people then its fun, if not dont go. The good news is, is that everyone pretty much hangs out around sand mountain, so the backside bowls are still way fun with less people.
