valve ticking after cam install?
Your decompression pin is 180 out. It is a common mistake on a Raptor Cam change. I have seen dealers do it. Make sure the tick mark on the decomp pin is up and in line with the center of the cam and the mark on the sprocket. You have to tear it back down to fix. You will notice a perfomance gain after you fix it.
One way to tell is to listen close at the header while running. You can hear the sound of the decomp pin hitting the rockers ringing in the header. You have to have a good ear to hear.
Good luck!

I have seen this problem before . Try this take off your valve covers and inspect the underside . I bet you will see a slight marking on the underneath , usually its the front cover . The higher lift cams can make the arm hit the cover at full lift . Take a dremel tool and remove some of the material where its hitting . Should solve your problem . This only happens on some , dont know why , maybe the covers come out of the casting mold thicker than others . Try it and let us know .

valve ticking after cam install?
I am having a similar problem with my 686 raptor. I have a stage 1 cam and after the install I had a very loud ticking noise. It ended up being that decomp mech so i spun it around 180 and that seemed to quiet it down quite a bit but there is still a very noticable tick going on. I am pretty sure it is coming from the top end, so I was just wondering if anybody had any input at all that could help. Thanks
