With only 26" tires you should be alright without the clutch kit. If you noticed a significant lose in power out of the hole when going to these tires then maybe a clutch kit would be a good idea. I know I lost quite abit with the ITP 589's that I run but they are 27" and alot heavier. I installed the clutch kit and it restores alot of lost bottom end.

My friend told me to try the drive clutch weights that were in a 600 griz in my 660 griz with mods listed below and 27 " tires. He did this to his a long time ago then sold it I cant remember exactly what it did for his , I guess these weights are supposed to engage at a higher rpm. I thought it would point to the sky , but it doesnt, it takes off good with two hops like you could feel it shift. Feels quicker but not sure havent been able to run her out full bore yet. As stated in the previous reply the 26" ers should not affect much it didnt on mine when I had them on.Has anyone else just put the drive clutch weights in without the driven clutch mod.and what outcome did you have? Sorry for using your topic to ask a question, thanks

Hey...its all part and parcel to the subject.....please feel free to contribute any info you have cause its all greek to me. Oh...sorry for hijacking this entire post but I'm a dumba** at this modding quads stuff but I am learning in that it obviously relates to street rod hotrodding of drivelines and powertrains and modding offshore racing motors.....horsepower is horsepower, torque is torque, and drive ratios are drive ratios.....and they all break if you screw the wrong thing up.....

Need is such a strong word. A clutch kit will give you a way to tune the bike for your kind of riding. If you need more low end for mudding, then go with a big tires kit. If you want everthing to stay the same with a little more kick, then get the stock tires kit.
