Default Clutch Kit Install Help

Hey All,

Just got my EPI clutch kit in the mail today. I didnt order the 75 dollar tool for this job, thinking I could just give the dealer the removed clutch and kit, and have them do it. I have noticed that there are a lot of people who install these things themselves, and was wondering how they did it? Is it possible to install without the special tool?

Default Clutch Kit Install Help

It's possible with a buddy for help. The only problem is that for the secondary clutch you have to set the spring in its correct holes and then compress and turn it to put some tension on the spring while your friend tightens the bolts & c-clip back on. Otherwise the primary spring & flyweights are a no-brainer.

Default Clutch Kit Install Help

I just got my first quad, and i am learning as i go to fix it. OK this is going to sound bad but i burned my clutch up in my '04 raptor660. I got the new clutch kit (magnum oem) nothing fancy.i put the plates in and put the cover back on the basket. however i cannot remeber if the springs on the outside of the basket cover were all the way compressed or not. if any one can help i would appreciate it...i also would like to know how in the world i am suppose to get the cover back on and line the splines up with the part that sticks out of the basket cover( i don't know what it is called but it is the piece that pushes in on the clutch when you pull the lever) any way...yeah i know i sound like an idiot but i was taking notes when i tore it all apart but i had to spend a few days for parts to come in then the weather got bad up here so i spent 1 week away from it and now i am having difficulty putting it back together. like i said any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the springs get compressed all the way on a manual clutch.
