I also have a few pounds on him.
I would say it's all about the rider. Both are fast. I want to make mine faster now

Stock for stock, they are pretty close with the YFZ being faster. Mod the shee with pipes and a filter, and it comes alive.

hey guys have you heard about the 06' raptor 700. I looks to me like a bored out raptor engine in a yfz 450 frame and its something like 395 lbs. Check it out on the yamaha web site. How do you think that thing would stack up to a modded banshee of yfz.???

Then, you take a banshee, pipe it (good pipes), port and polish it, and its an entirely different beast. WAY, WAY, WAY more power. Enough to
just blow a yfz away in a drag. I know this because I had a Quadzilla and got beat (repeadedly) by a piped, and ported banshee, yet I SMOKED the stockers.
Either your story doesnt add up, or there was something wrong or done incorrectly with the banshee in question.

The first race we thought might have been a rider error (on the Banshees part) but just for good measure we went 2 more times and kicked butt. We know the Banshee owner well and lets just say they were extremely shocked and I would have to say slightly disappointed as they thought nothing would ever touch a Banshee in a sand race. I think alot of people are pretty amazed that there is something out there that will compete and win against the Banshee. Oh and by the way they were equals in riding ability. Ahhh...I really like the YFZ

PS keep in mind a straight line drag race is different than an uphill race. The banshee has more top end speed so yeah typically in a straight line drag it will beat anything out there. I was talking an uphill race, but that being said there used to be nothing that could touch a banshee up hill either. The gab is definitly closing in on the Banshee which is probably good since they "supposedly" won't be in production after 06.

Just a little food for thought. Bike to bike the Banshee does not develope low end power, so that being said in a short range drag race ie up hill from stop the YFZ is able to develope the power right out of the hole. Therefore by the time the Banshee reaches its peak performance the race is over. Moreover, the only thing on the hill that night that beat the YFZ was another YFZ which had more mods (port and polish). Just speaking the facts. The Banshee is fast there is obviously no disputing that fact, but it has a totally different power range than a YFZ.
