Default When to shift?

I was just wondering if you all with 660 raptors find it better to shift throught the gear fast or to hold the gears out or somewhere in the middle? ANy one who runs on a drag track what do you do to get your fastest times?

Default When to shift?

bump. I would also like to hear some hints on how to get an even better take off. When I race Rincons and Prairie 650's I can't seem to get them for the first few yards. After that I blow them away of course but I feel like there must be a way to take them from the start. My problem is that I can't keep my front end down low enough. I'm only using probably half of my power too. Is it better to take off in second to help keep it from wheelieing so much? Those guys on the other machines I mentioned can just give it full throttle from the start. No skill involved at all. Short of extending the swingarm or adding weights to the front bumper what can we do?

I keep it in first. I hold in the clutch and throttle about 1/3 the way, I have ALL my weight on the front...I am almost on the gas tank. I pop the clutch and almost instantly change into second and throw my *** to the back of the seat. Works everytime.

The only way to get faster starts is by practice. Try different things and see what works for YOU and your quad. What works for one guy and his quad may not work for you.
You may want to go down 1 tooth on the front sprocket. Then you'll be able to start out in second a little easier. You may lose a little of your top speed, but rarley does a real drag race, motocross included (to the first turn), do you hit top speed in 5th gear.
