Loss of power on my 2004 Kodiak 450 HELP!
I installed 26-9-12s on the front and 26-10-12s on the rear " Mud lites on ITP C Wheels". l love the looks and the feel on the tires, I feel less likely to turn over now but I have 2 problems now. I have loss alot of power and the front tires at times hit my front fender flairs. the shocks are set on the 2nd setting should I crack it to 4 or 5 or just trim the flairs. I don't want to rejet the carb. some people have told me to installing HMF muffler and it will help the low end power loss. I was told to install a REV limiter or a CDI module "I have no clue what this are" Or should I go back to 25-8-12 XL Mudlites and 25-10-12s on the rear.
Any suggestions ???????????????????????????
Sorry about asking so many questions. I'm learning this stuff as I go

i put 25's on mine mudlights and from what local dealer was saying as far as my bike it would loose power if i put bigger tires on i wanted to put 589 on but he claimed i would loose to much power and it would not handle well . all i do know is the ml are alot better than the stocks i had on.lol
places i had to use 4x4 i can go in 2 wheel what a difference. so id say stay with 25. just my opinion.

Yeah stay stock size on the Kodiak unless you are planning to mod it. I also would go with the AT version of the mudlites unless you are just going to be mudding. If your trail riding you will get alot less of a tractor like feel from the AT. Personally I would go with the 25" Holeshot ATR Radials. You will get better traction and the best handling for your kodiak.

Since you already have the 26" tires, buying another set of 25's would be a waste. Tighten your shocks 1 or 2 notches and see how it feels. The easiest way to gain power is to put on a new pipe, modify your airbox and re-jet. An HMF pipe is very good but it's also VERY loud. If you want to stay close to stock Db's, the HMF QS1 is supposed to be a good choice. You can also change your clutch but I don't know much about that.

Since you already have the 26's I would say do what it takes to get them to fit right. If it takes to cut the fenders a little or adjust the shocks, maybe put a lift kit on it?? I would definetly get a pipe/filter and rejet it to help. The cdi is like the computer I believe it lets it rev higher. The mods I did to my BigBear really improved the low end grunt, and helped with pull throughout the gears. Looking at mud-lites now. I just noticed air box vents on a website. I'am going to have to look into those a little more, they may add more air flow and alow me to jet up one more size, and gain more power!
