A guy offered to trade me 2 1989 blasters for my 96 banshee (siezed) also $425, one new piston and gasket, I get to keep my tires from the banshee and his new diamondback freestyle bike. Only thing is they are kinda beat on and one is in pieces even the bottom end. The one that is running runs good, however 4th gear is toast. I took it for a ride, it wasnt bad but not having 4th sucks, Think I should trade? here is a picture of the blaster

I have been following your posts now ever since you toasted your motor.
I feel for you for sure....Your looking at around $800 from a dealer to fix it. could be more.
Does the crank still spin? What kind of shape is the block itself in? Pitted? Burnt bearings?

I know that money seems to be a bit of a problem for you and this project.....So why don't you box everything up and send it to me. I'll fix it and send it back to you in a couple of weeks.... Just so that you will stop talking all this about trading a banshee for a blaster.... How much you want to give me for a crank? or rods?
My neighbor just blew up his banshee too...Of course it was the person who he bought it from that caused it to happen. But he sold me the lower end for a good price...seems you should be able to find a good deal to help you fix yours too? Have you called the ATV salvage yards? Your going to have to dig...But the deals are out there.

I am pretty sure I can do all of the work myself I just need to get the pieces and it costs a damn lot of money.. I hate to give in but I know it needs a new crank, it still spins mint, in fact it will run, but on the right side where the rod broke there is a big burr where the lower rod berings ride, one cylinder is scratched pretty good, the carbs are wacked, the head should be machined, so Im figurin $500 for a crank, $230 for pistons/gasket/upperbearings,exc.. $200 to have the cylinders bored, $100 for the head, exc... basically alot of cash that I dont have. And after all this stuff it will run good but it will still look pretty ****ty, could definetly use upper a-arms, new handlebars, seat cover, new plastic, and pretty much everything in between..

Stick with your Banshee, at least you know exactly what it needs. Those Blasters sound like junk to me, even if he gave them to you it would still cost you a boat load of money to get them into shape. Bite the bullet and fix your Banshee.

Hey man never give up on a banshee!!! I own a Raptor and have my Banshee still. I rebuilt mine after I blew the piston. And some of your pricing is right for the parts but you are getting a ****ty deal on the machine work. It should be only around 80 for the bore. If you really want to save some bucks call up a salvage yard and buy a used motor. At least then you only might have to get a fresh piston set. East coast Atv has some good deals. And now with the Raptor out you may even be able to score a good used banshee for cheap. The motor never changed thru the years so even if its an 89 pick it up, if it runs.

And yeah blasters may be fun but when you go form a banshee to a blaster its like going form a BMW to a Pinto.
