It is never good on the bike to shift without the clutch. Regardless of what some on here will try to tell you, there is no advantage to shifting without the clutch and it wears on the clutch plates and transmissions. Once you get used to the bike, you will be able to clutch-shift as fast as these yahoos can shift without it. Use your clutch for what is was designed for and you will get more life out of your machine.

ok.. dude the last thing u wna do is b hitting from 4th to 5th and breaking ur tranny.. skidding to a hault..a nd go flying over the handlebars.. all because u didn't clutch.. just clutch and don't listen to those ppl that want ur yfz to break.

actually most ATV trannies are Constant-Mesh so you dont HAVE to use the clutch, only to get going but its good to do it. if you do do it, just upshift, dont downshift without clutch.

I agree.
Shifting CAN be done without using the clutch, but it is a LOT harder on the parts, and you WILL be putting premature wear on them. I ALWAYS use the clutch, even when I am racing someone. A slight (very slight) lead is not worth blowing my tranny over........

not only 01 rapter's loose their trannies.......any bike can. Primary cause, not using the clutch!
Even in a car, once the rev ratio is perfect you can change gear without the clutch. But do you do that in your car? only when the clutch cable is brocken!.....oh yes, dont stop or you will have a problem.
