The one I bought (utility series) did not come with any type heat shield, and I did not try to modify the stock shield to fit on the HMF. I have not expierenced any heat realated problems at all. Hope this helps some.

i think that i have seen a add about a universal heat shield
it was a carbon fiber piece and it attached to any pipe using hose clamps
i will try to find it again because i really need one
i prefer over the boot style riding pants and my pipe always melts em
i can try header wrap but my 2 headpipes touch each other where they bend around the head and this prevents a problem
my buddy wrapped his on his 450 and it stopped his pants from melting
so depending on why you want one the header wrap is definitely an option

This is the one that i was talkin about
im fixin to order it

Having my roots in street car drag racing, has anybody thought of using ceramic coatings on their header pipes. I know HPC is one company that does it. I had a set of Hooker Super Comp headers that were ceramic coated. The external heat difference is amazing. Plus, keeping heat in the pipe makes the header scavenge the cylinder better.
