04 Grizzly front differential shaft problem??

Ok. The drive shaft seal on the front diff.. is leaking at the shaft/seal connection. I looked a another bike and it looks like the shaft on mine has moved back, not allowing the seal to seat properly. It looks like there's a grove on the cv for the seal to ride.
My question is, am I able to push this shaft back into the housing, like you would the left and right cv's on the front. I tried pushing it back in, but have had no luck.
Thanks

Hey, I've got the same problem with that seal in the front leaking oil. Have you had any luck fixing it? Mine seems to only leak while riding, but when it sits in the garage there are no drips. Yes, I did take off the skid plate to see if it will drip.

Before you trying beating the daylights out of it. take out the axle and see if the clip has gotten jammed into the splines part of the shaft. If so, use a small triangle file to chase the splines and fix or reinstall a new clip. This can happen if your axle has over extended or has popped out of the differential. It's better to remove it and be sure before you damage anything inside the diff. Let me know if you need any pointers.

if i understand your post.....you're talking about the front driveshaft leaking and not any of the axles.....if so then Chicago Rawhide seal PN# 18951 will do the trick for you.....thats the seal that i put in mine....well by the looks of it you've got your 2004 driveshaft which is a CV shaft not a u-joint shaft.....anyways
there's no c-clip on the shaft to hold it into the diff....however there's a clip that is seated into a groove in the housing that holds the bearing in that's directly behind the pinion gear shaft...that bearing seems to hold the pinion gear in place....but if that clip happened to come unseated and the bearing is sliding back then that would mean that the pinion gear is sliding rearwards too and that would be no good at all....
there's also a compression spring that applies forward pressure to the CV shaft to stay in constant contact with the coupler that the cv slides into on the pinion gear shaft.....even at that there's still a nut that holds the coupler and bearing assemblies and everything onto the rear side of the pinion gear shaft....the only way that shaft could've slid back was if the nut somehow backed off or the clip that holds the bearing in that is butted up against the pinion gear has unseated itself....and that's not good so i wouldn't ride it until you figure it out....there could be some serious damage to your Grizzly or more important to yourself.....good luck man
