I have a 2003 660 raptor all stock so far, b4 this I had a 2001 Warrior. I love the new quad, i upto this point have absolutely no regrets. The only problem I have is this, my Raptor pipe, even the exhaust shield get so dam hot. I have a 5yr old lil girl who use to go on 2 hour rides with me on my Warrior, what breaks my heart is that there is no way in hell I could ever take her on my rappy, the poor thing would burn her legs up, even with pants I am sure. Is there anything I can do to cut the heat down, I see some guys in the pit with some sort of wrap around their pipes, is that what this is for. What is it called so I know what to ask for?

Anything I can do here people, my lil girl is so heart broken, but not as heartbroken as her dad!

I would try some sort of insullation maybe exhaust packing or like that home fiber glass stuff then tape it up, or maybe even leather.

Good luck

I have a carbon fiber heat shield and didnt notice anything running cooler. The wrap stuff you have seen is called "Header Wrap," you can get it from Jegs, Summit Racing or JC Whitney. It looks ugly but it works.
