Slap in a 12:1 piston and a good cam and you've got a great quad, provideing the rod holds up but hey, can't have everything.
I agree, a piston, cam and you're good to go, I'm more excited about the geometry of the quad

First of all, before stepping on anybodys toes, this forum is to voice personal opinion, and whether or not you are **** retensive, (taking it up the a** or not), is your problem, not anyone else's.

Second, 660Rryder, it is not the same engine at all. The only thing that is the same is the stroke, that's all. I am personal friends with the owner's son of our local shop, and recieved all the info from them as they have returned from a Dealer meeting in Vegas just 2 days ago.

Third, I put down my deposit today to get the FIRST one they have come through the door, no matter what the color.

Fourth, very, and I mean VERY few parts will swap with the 660 Raptor. No grab bars, tail-lights, nothing. As what was said before, it has the YFZ450 a-arms and pegs and will have very similar design of the head-lights. They discussed the reason for not putting the 450 shocks on it, which was concluded as thus: Many of the 450 owners swap out the stock ones anyway, which most Raptor owners do as well. How often do you see 450 shocks for sale on Ebay and things of the sort?? All the time. They just wanted to leave it up to the people that buy them to do it.
Also, the tail-light should be real interesting as well. It is an L.E.D. light, but with an undertail set-up that you would see on streetbikes, which is formed around that tail-light, very neat indeed.

Sorry if I had to burst a few people's bubbles on what they actually know about the bike. Ya, it still is a S.O.H.C., but it does have a redesigned head, (as was previously stated), and this is going to see many debates and fights and all that crazy jazz. But I can't wait to get my hands on one, and even if they do have problems, that is why you have extended warranties right?? I know that I will be purchasing the longest warranty they got, cause if anything Fu**s up, it will be handled accordingly.

Just my 2 cents.

Kevin

I like it but will wait till the 2nd year. I would like to see how it fairs stock for stock against the YFZ 450. Looks like a nice smooth ride though.

Extended Warranty..HAHAH LOL...Biggest waste of money I say. Put your $800 away and save it. Then if it brakes you have $800 to put towards repairs. If nothing brakes your $800 richer. And usually if something does brake its something they will say was from user abuse or find some way not to cover it. Sure some luck out when there motor, tranny, frame or something major brakes and they cover but the odds are on your side...or they wouldn't sell extended warranty's because they would lose money.

They need a 700cc (or much Bigger) Gizz too. Who cares about the raptor anyways. Like its going to go soooo much faster..NOT! But we can always use more power on the Utes!

Ya I would wait till the 2nd production year to buy one. warranty? I would imagine that like the 01 raptor tranny and the 03 grizzly axles that if something breaks it will almost for sure be "rider error"

personally, I like the single cam head. it has tappets you can adjust, not that bucket and shim stuff like the twin cams. It costs MONEY to have those shims measured and changed. You wont notice the difference with a 100mm+ piston anyway. and your reciprocating weight is down too. It's a guts engine, not a weedwacker! LOL

This saounds very familiar to all the talk before the V-force came out. I bought into it and bought one. I was so disappointed. Not that it was a bad quad, but it wasn't what I hoped/thought it would be. I recommend waiting a year./;

Hey there TechTip, long time, no hear from, how's Adam doing?

This is not a "New" quad, just a Rappy with improvements, the only thing that might have an issue is the EFI. With all the changes I'm stoked, especially the stance.

Other little features I like on top of what I already spoke of.

Allen wrench removable inspection covers to align the marks when doing valve adjustments.
Easy access to the front sprocket for easy sprocket change, no longer needing to remove the foot rest etc.
Easy style chain adjustment. Will this bearing carrier be useable in aftermarket swing arms? Looks possible.
