Default Blaster problem...?

I just picked up this blaster cheap...and some...uhhh wires have been pieced together in some places. Bottom line..it will idle for a couple of seconds and die...and it wont take throttle. Its getting good fire..but i havent cleaned or checked the carb yet...and its been sitting up for about 4-5 months. Whats your take on this...i have to get this bike built for my wife, i want my KFX-700 back!!

Default Blaster problem...?

it definatly is the carb. gas starts to go bad in about 2 weeks. the main jet is probably clogged with varnish and crap. i would thoroughly clean the carb and then install an inline fuel filter on the fuel line so you should never have to clean it again. you might have to replace the filter now and then but thats easy compared to cleaning the whole carb

after u clean or when u clean the carb look in the boot checkto see if the reeds are broke. should be closed off when looking in. 2 on top 2 on bottom some times they crack or just break

you said there are wires spliced together and crap? check the wiring for the throttle over ride system, the thing on top of the carb. that could be the whole 'not taking throttle' problem.
