Default Problems with 05 Kodiak 450

Need some help here guys. Started up my 450 tonight and when I got to about half throttle when I was pulling away it started missing and backfiring and just wouldn't go any faster. As soon as I let up on the throttle, no problems but when I reached half throttle again, same thing. Put a new plug in, and drained the float bowls, and yes there is gas in. Still no change. Took it to my Dealer, and one of the parts guys said it sounds like a blocked jet. I also should mention that it ran a lot better when I put full choke on. What do you guys think it is? Thanks for the help.

I had a similar problem on my wolverine,so I took the bowl off and found a dead spider getting sucked up ,It would act like you say,but it was intermitent. Just thought you would like to hear that story, but it drove me nuts for a while!!!

That would be my first guess too. Just drop the float bowl and look at the main jet, the gas for both the midrange and the wot come thru that. If you find alot of crud in the float bowl, think about getting an in line fuel filter put on it.

Thanks Guys! Yep, just picked it up from the dealer and he told me the main jet had what looked like a piece of paper in it. Runs real well now. Thanks again.

Thatll do it.
Dont forget to add the in line fuel filter, and then this wont happen again.

hondabuster: Good Idea! I'm going to do that for sure. Don't need this again. Thanks!
