Default 2005 450 Carb Problem

Hello,

Friend of mine has a 2005 yamaha 450 Quad that is having some problems with the Carb.. When he starts it up, it will idle fine but then gas will start running out of one of the tubes that comes from the carb... he said it just started on its own, didnt do anything to cause it.... any ideas on what it might be?? thanks!!

Usually thats a problem with the floats inside the bowl. Try taking the handle end of a screw driver and tapping the bottom of the carb a few times to hopefully knock those floats loose. If that doesn't work you'll have to take the carb off and take off the bottom to free the floats, use a little carb cleaner while your in there too.

yup Bubba's on line

its likely sand/dirt trapped in between the needle and seat...careful using carb spray...it can easily eat the rubber o-rings and needle tip

Mine has done that on 1 occasion. It happens when you turn the fuel off and then stand it up on the grab bar;Once you put back down and you turn the fuel on it comes out of the overflow.I've found that if you ride it over rough terrain it'll soon stop. The floats don't always like it when the quad is on it's end for some reason
