getting a quad

Default getting a quad

when buying a used quad what should i look for cause my freind is getting a 96 300ex. and i was wondering what would be the stuff u have to check for.

ive never bought a used quad but i know one thing that could help check if the engine works LOL[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] hope that helps haha

go and test ride it...the only way u will know if u wanna buy it is if u try it out yourself check if it starts in a few kicks check any damage(if the guy wiped out alot or not) check the air filter(see if its there, it can happen) there is more but those r the basics

Check all fluids. Make sure they are at proper level and smell and look correct. Like the oil shouldn't be foamy or excesivly black as this could mean water in oil or that they didn't take very good care of it. Look at the frame and make sure it doesn't look like its been rewelded or cracks, etc. And like Boombotz said give it a good test ride and listen for any adnormal sounds and see if it feels right.

ok thx its not for me. i got my baby, my freinds the one whos getting the 300ex same applies though

Push down on the front and back suspension and test the rebound on the shock... Pull on the front A-arms and see if the bushings are showing signs of ware... Do the same to the rear swingarm.... Check the carrier bearings by sitting on the quad and rock it back and forth and look at the axle housing.... Look at the under side of the quad as well....
