Tell him you want the title when you go to buy it and If he says he dosent have it then report it stolen and get him in trouble.

That is why you get a bill of sale, and the title if they have it. Seriously, if you're only paying 500 bucks for 2005 model of any brand, you're buying something that was stolen.

Three words: "Bill of Sale" Besure to include the VIN # and other information, along with the buyer/sellers signature.

If you know about this scam, report it.

Have like 4 people there when you buy it so you have wittneses and in court you can have them say you bought it.

Dude, you need to steer clear of that whole mess. Unless that bike is totalled, there is no way he's selling a legal 2005 for $500. The reason he wants cash is so there will be no paper trail leading back to him. Sounds like either a stolen bike, or an insurance scam. Even if you have him sign a paper or have witnesses. A court transcript of receiving stolen property (even dismissed with no charges) can really screw you up in the future. I wouldn't touch it.

If I was you, I wouldn't even mess around with this guy.... It sounds shady and might get you in trouble.... There are laws against receiving stolen property.... Sounds like a bad deal....

a "bill of sale" WILL NOT protect you if the bike is actually stolen

if you are caught with a stolen bike,at the very least (if your lucky) will NOT be getting back the money you paid for it,,,,they will want who you purchased it from,,,and the bike will be returned to its rightful owner

this doesnt say they cant bring charges on you for receiving stolen property,,,if this guy is selling stolen bikes,he would probably be the sort that would tell the cops you knew it was stolen, just to bring you down with him

i hate a thief, and buying stolen bikes, just perpetuates the problem, and you may be next
