I did beat piped 400ex's but I had to get the holeshot and shift well otherwise it would usually end as a tie. Lets put it this way...stock Warriors put out 18-20 HP, stock 400ex's put out 26-28 HP stock. Thats already almost 10 HP more in stock form. Warrior has 2 valves, 400ex's have 4, thats a HUGE difference right there when lookin to get more performance from an engine. That 2 valve motor is very obsolete and causes a huge bottleneck in power, making it not respond to engine mods as well as newer engines. This also makes the Warrior rev much slower and not rev nearly as high, and it has a big old chunky transmission to go with it! The most HP your gonna get from a built Warrior similar to mine is around 30 give er take a couple IF your lucky. The 400ex makes 30 HP easy with a full pipe and filter setup. The Warrior also weighs more and handles worse, which definatly doesn't help. So if you wanna go by numbers, thats a good way to look at it. Also, the Warrior is air cooled and it heats up fast when you build it up, so your planning on doing the work you really gotta watch the temp.
Think of it like trying to build up an old V-Twin harley engine and to race it against some of the lower performance crotch rockets...the technology just isn't there. It'll cost ya alot of money and in the end they still might beat ya.

Yea I see your point... I can't get enough for a 400ex so I will probly give up the idea of putting a cam and crap in the warrior. Ill just keep the warrior until I can find a lt or trx250r. Also about the warrior heating up.. Isn't the 400ex air cooled too?

I know 400ex's have no problems overheating, but I mentioned Warrior overheating because if you do that amount of engine work it creates much more heat from the engine, the stock air cooling then works much less effecient; resulting in overheating problems.
