Default To be able to beat a 400ex

I have a 1993 Yamaha Warrior with pipe jets and filter 13t front 40t rear sprokets and I want to be able to beat a stock 400ex, or a very lightly modded 400ex. I could gear my bike for higher speeds but I don't want to lose all my torque. So Ill gear my bike for mid range speed. Whats a good mid range sproket setup? What will it take to beat a 400?

I don't know about the high comp piston but I was thinking about the cam. Which is better hotcams or web cam?

I believe they perform comparably on the warrior, but I heard that one of them wears out your valvetrain pretty quik, not sure which one;might wanna research.

alrite Ill look up to see which is better and which is going to work better with the motor. Other than cam what else could I do? What about over sized valves? porting? Any bigger stock carb of another bike work with the warrior intake? how much power does running no airbox lid give? Just say I put a cam porting and run no lid how would I do up againts a stock or lightly modded 400ex?

Also. what has power potential after mods to beat a 400ex... A warrior or 300ex?

Find out the lift and duration of each of those cams. The one with the higher lift and longer duration is probably going to wear your valve train quicker. If you ask the manufacturer what they suggest as far as valve train, they are going to steer you towards theirs.
