Default gas roll call!!!!!

Ya but has your price gone up 64% in less than a year? I think not so stop your telling us to stop whinning.Even if it has..... Yes your gas is higher but has been for some time. You are use to paying that price. So things are adjusted acordingly. Now how would you feel if you gas almost doubled in less than a year. Thats what we are experiancing and bitching about. If it went up this amount after serveral years that would be fine. We really couldn't bitch then. If our price was the same as yours today we would be looking at over 100% increase in less than a year. Anyways the prices are to high and only getting higher. Sure fine I'll pay the same amount as some of you ..almost $5.00 a gallon but I wouldn't of taken the job I took 4 years ago. Its 25 miles away from where I live. So I have to filler up once a week. But soon it will be like I'm filling up twice a week. Think about that.

The point that I am trying to make is that gas is gas, why the heck are we paying way more for fuel here that you are there, we have oil fields and refineries here also, so it is not like it comes from there. And just cause we are "use to paying more" doesnt make it right. 25 miles to work isnt bad, my commute to and from work totals just over 100 km per day.

It really isn't an apples to apples comparison in all cases (comparing gas prices across country boundary lines). There are a lot of federal, state, and even local taxes tied into our gas prices. Some countries may not have this but then they might have a higher income tax rate.

Basically, it is all just a system for getting your money back from you. You really have to combine all the taxes you pay (incomes, sales, gas, etc.). This is why the poor pay more taxes as a percentage basis than the rich. You see if you have to drive 50 miles to work, it doesn't matter whether you are rich or poor. You pay the same amount of gas tax. As a percentage of your income it is higher for you.

If we did away with gas taxes and just raised income taxes (assuming a flat income tax rate with no loopholes for the wealthy) then the wealthy would end up paying more in taxes since they make more. They don't want this which is why a pay as you go tax rate works best for them. As a percentage, they aren't going to use any more than the next guy.

The wealthy do pay more taxes. The top 5% of income makers in this country pay 50% of the taxes.

This is per litre are you talking Gallons? The conversion is 1 gallon = 3.785412 litres. That means the 1 Gallon of PREM would cost $5.12 in Australia. The conversion rate between USD and AUD is about .76 so it would cost you $3.89 in USD. I guess US and Australia are fairly close.

come on, this guys got it worse than any of we do.
