Hey Im new just sayin high and let me know what you think about this
Hey I just registered and Im just saying high and I also have a question. I have a 2001 raptor 660. I had just a T4 procircuit pipe and header, removed air lid, KN filter, and it was jetted. It felt pretty fast and it would tear my friends stock raptor apart. Well I just took the motor out and had a 686 big bore put on it with JE piston I think that is 12.5 to one but it may be 12 to one, kibbelwhite valvesprings, and a stage 2 hot cam. I get my motor back the beginning of next week what can I expect from the quad with the new parts. and is there anything else I can do to get more power out of it for now with out going to a 727. And can anyone recommend a good jet size for this stuff. I just put a 160 and 165 jets in as well as 25 pilot jets.

You're going to have to go up on your main jet sizes but since I dont know if they are DJ or mikuni/gytr then I cant tell you how much. Remember to run a higher octane on that piston, somewhere in the area of 100-104 RM/2. Going from a piped bike to that setup you should notice a dramatic increase in power and also a need for a longer swingarm. If you dont have at least a +2 you'll be wishing for something after the first few minutes of riding.

The guys at yamaha said that I would be fine if I run premium gas and put octane booster in it. I probably should have included more info about the jets the jets are GYTR, but yamaha said that they were the same as the mikuni jets. My altitude is also about 400 feet above sea level. Will my pilot jets be big enough, and right now the needles are on the 3 groove from the top, any help with the jetting would really help me out alot. With the new piston and cam will my quad be hard to control. Can anybody recommed a good swing arm that also looks good and won't be too hard on the wallet. I am wanting to go with a plus 4 or a plus 6 because of future plans that I have. Thanks for the help.

if they said its good to run premium, they installed a 11:1 piston, not a 12:1. I would go up to 170/175 jets to start and work your way down. also go down a clip on your needles. do you have GYT-R needles too? You'll need them.

Octane booster is junk, mixing isnt great but it will work. Find out exactly what they installed so you know how to run it, dont trust the dealership's word. Ask for the empty box from the part.
As for jetting you'll want to be in the 180 range on the mains, pilots are fine and you should get the gytr needles as fatty said if you dont have them already.
There are some swingarms availible on ebay for cheap but I cant vouch for thier quality. A good swingarm setup will run you about 700 dollars or more.

Will my bike sound different at all. I think while the carbs are still out I wil switch to 175 and 180 mains and if that is too much then I will back it off some. I do have the GTYR needles, which slot should I put the clip in from the top. Am I going to have to play with timming at all to get it running right. Im gettin excited I want to ride again. I hope that I will be able to smoke most of the quads in my area. I guess that there is a pretty quick yfz with a cam in it in my area, do you think that there is a chance I may be able to take him. Would I benefit from any igniton mods, or a new cdi at all. I don't even have the motor back yet and I am already wanting to make it faster. Speed is too addicting.

That jetting sounds alright for a start, elevation, porting, and a few other things will alter the exact numbers. 3rd clip should be fine on the needles. You shouldnt have to play with timing, stock is best. The bike wont make much of a different noise, you probably wont notice it unless you're high in the rpm range. An internally stock yfz with a cam mod, pipe and filter should be no match for you. Internally modified, it varies. As for a cdi the stage 2 hotcam isnt really that aggressive and you will stop making power well before the 9k rpm limiter and therefore should be shifting before you hit it. If you've got the 350 bucks to blow go for it, but its not going to do a whole lot.
