Default Synthetic Oil???

I use 5W30 in Winter and 10W30 in Summer. If I had a sport quad in summer and was running it at high RPM alot I would say go with the 20W40. But ya Synthetic would protect you longer. I use it in my cars to extend my oil change to 5,000 miles. Saves me money and time in the long run. Compared to snake oil and 3000 mile changes.

Basically if you ran 5W oil you would be perfectly fine. Now if you ran it in very hot summer days and ran high RPMS alot, the oil would break down and you could eventually cause wear/damage to your engine. But in Winter the lower number gives you better startup protection and you don't have to worry about heat as much then.
