well, designs were more unique back then- the sport market was a little different and just getting off the ground and companies has distinct styles and looks and were seeking market niches and race winners. but i see what you say or the way i see it --back then a suzuki had a 'suzuki look' to it, a honda had a 'honda look' to it and so forth. kawasaki even added a pop up headlight on the tecate 4 ( a bike they should have kept making and refining b/c it was bad azz for a 250). the names were more original too-- warrior, banshee, tecate, 250R, quadzilla, etc.. there wasnt raptor 50-700 like now.
i personally think the '88 250R is one of the best looking bikes ever. i had one in my grasp at the dealer but decided against it. that thing looked so good all clean and mean and sleek sitting on that showroom floor..... but, hey, this is the 21st century and we have some great looking and perforing bikes now and they are getting better. we have better preforming bikes as a whole. it only took 15yrs for them to replace the 250R, but with all the competition wars like the latter 80's, bold new graphics are a thing of the past when the OEMs go to update their bikes now or they will get left behind.
welcome to the second golden age of atving! so yes im glad this new LTR450 is coming out. i just wish it wasnt 49" wide, but it will definitely be on my watch list to see how it does.

The '88 TRX250R was definetely the best looking quad stock. I liked the plastics of the '86 - '87 Rs as well, but I couldn't stand the gold a-arms and swinger. I loved the gold rims, though. I actually still had the goldies on my R till I rebuilt it. I liked the Zillas a lot too, but they just looked silly with the blue motors. It looked like Suzuki fully assembled the whole quad then just blasted them in a spray booth.
